Who is Greg the Beer List Guy?
Greg Nowatzki, a.k.a. Greg the Beer List Guy, is the owner and primary tour guide for Las Vegas Beer Tours. While watching a baseball game in 1995, Greg noticed that he had tasted every beer that was advertised during the game and wondered how many different beers he had tried. He listed every beer that he had remembered ever drinking, and came up with 130. Greg thought it would be fun to see if he could try 1,000 different beers in his lifetime, and so he began adding every new beer that he tasted to his list. It took Greg only 3 1/2 years to reach his goal, and he has continued adding new beers to his list to this day. To date, Greg has tasted over 13,000 different beers from 84 different countries, all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, and starting with every letter of the alphabet.
In 2002, Food TV filmed Greg tasting his 4,000th beer at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver and featured the event on an hour-long special the following year. In February 2012, Greg was one of three finalists competing for the Beerdrinker of the Year award presented by Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver. While he didn't win, he hopes to compete for the honor again in 2013.
Greg attends several out-of-state beer festivals each year, and often hears people saying that there is no good beer in Las Vegas. This is not true. It may be difficult to find good beer on the Strip, at least ones that you can afford, but actually the Las Vegas area is home to several fine microbreweries and brewpubs. The problem is that out-of-towners may not know where they are or how to get there. That's why Greg started Las Vegas Beer Tours in 2012, to bring you to the best beer in the Las Vegas valley.
